do you supply thinned (high index) glasses lenses?
Yes we do. Hi-index (thin) lenses are manufactured from higher density materials than standard plastic lenses, allowing a thinner lens to provide the same visual correction as a standard lens. Standard lenses have an index of 1.5 (actually, 1.49). The first 'high index' lens is the 1.6, followed by the 1.67 and 1.74.
We offer 1.6 index plastic lenses free of charge with all frames featured on our website. We offer 1.67 index plastic lenses at £50 extra per pair and 1.74 index plastic lenses at £125 extra per pair with all frames featured on our website (the 1.74 index being the thinnest plastic lenses currently available).
All high index lenses supplied by Iris Optical have an anti-reflection coating as standard. Plastic high index lenses also have an anti-scratch coating in addition (unnecessary for glass lenses).
High index glass lenses (1.7, 1.8 or 1.9 index) are also available on request, though you'll need to order by phone or visit one of our stores.
